While over-indulging in processed meats can be detrimental to your health, taking moderate amounts of cured or smoked meat is all right.
While no non-smoked meat can perfectly replicate the flavor of a smoked one, you can use seasonings to add more flavor to non-smoked meats, like sliced turkey, chicken, pork or beef. Consider marinating your meat in sauce made with coconut aminos, and add a few tops of "liquid" smoke to get smokey flavor without the health risks.
If you really need smoked meat for a recipe, though, try to get lower-sodium varieties made without nitrates. Since salt and nitrates are responsible for some of the adverse health effects of smoked meats, options with less of or without them will be better for your health.
