As an added layer of protection, you should consider a service that will search the dark web for your name, social security number, address and other personal details that a fraudster may have posted. While the free Experian service offers dark web surveillance once, the Plus and Premium plans are the only ones that check for your personal information on over , web pages every day. The free and paid services provided by Experian are all helpful, but the best choice for you ultimately depends on whether or not you already actively monitor your credit reports and financial accounts.
But if you rarely check in on your accounts, it may be a better idea to go with one of the paid Experian IdentityWorks plans. Beyond credit monitoring services, Experian provides a free resource for you to improve your credit score. Learn more about how Experian Boost works. So I called them and got my dispute handled and was refunded my money and subscription cancelled but two days later another So I called and I was told at first that they could do nothing even though my subscription has been cancel and then I was told that it was only one charge but my account was charged twice. The lady I was talking to was very condescending. I wish I could give them no stars. Be very careful when giving your card number away because this may happen to you.
I cancelled my account through their automated system because my bank offers me the same services. When I called, I was told that I had never cancelled and was told I had signed up several days earlier than I actually did. My bank account and email say otherwise. They are a bunch of thieves and I will make sure no one I know uses their services.
Experian has a scam going where you log in to freecreditreport. The scam is that they enroll you in a "free trial" 7 day credit monitoring service. The terms of which are buried in the fine print. Then, long after the 7 days are over, you find a charge to your credit card. You call them the call center is in the Philippines where no doubt low wage earners are exploited by Experian and they tell you that there will not be a refund. This company is unethical on many levels. I advise people to never use frecreditreport.
If you provide your credit card info to them you will be scammed. Experian makes promises it does not deliver and has no sense of customer satisfaction. They care about taking your money and that's about it. They are supposed to be there to help consumers not steal from them.
I was sent a email stating 1. I paid 76 dollars to look at my credit score one time. This company is fraud - look out!! Went to the website and no on-line cancellation available. Called customer service to cancel and got put on hold forever and then told their "system was down" and they could not cancel it and so I would have to call back in 24 hours. What a racket. I did not notice any monthly charges on the screen. Such online services usually send receipts for monthly charges, but Experian never sent any receipt email informing me of the charge.
Their intention was to hide it as much as possible. I never logged into their online service after the initial report in I called today, waited for 20 minutes to speak, and cancelled it. This is disgusting to see that such a large firm is openly ripping consumers off.
Is there a class section lawsuit against them? I called my bank to contest the charge and the bank's automated system which is apparently very familiar with contested Experian charges actually stated that the bank could do nothing about that charge and that I would have to call the vendor directly. I did some research on this site and others, and realized that I had unknowingly become an Experian "member" who was incurring the associated monthly charge.
It was actually sickening to hear that and naturally I was upset at myself since I missed noticing the charges for so long. When I spoke with the woman's supervisor, he explained that they would remove one month's charge and cancel my account.
He provided an email to follow up with billing for the rest. I lectured both of the representatives that I spoke to that their employer is hurting a lot of people and encouraged them to look for another job.
I briefly worked in Argentina fielding calls from Americans trying to buy Dell computers. When the orders flooded the call center around the holidays, agents would be given an estimated delivery date in the middle of January but would promise callers that their computer would arrive by Christmas. It was all to meet quotas and keep their jobs, of course, and was condoned if not encouraged by management.
It is unfortunate that young people with few employment options are stuck doing the bidding of these corporations. Now off to watch a fireman help a cat out of a tree or something to restore my faith in humanity. I was never informed that I was a "Member" by a follow up email. I was never even sent a bill, they just sneakily billed my Credit 4 times in 2 months.
