You should be able to see all of the Windows apps in the right panel with an On and Off switch next to them. One of the most common reasons for a slow computer are programs running in the background. Remove or disable any TSRs and startup programs that automatically start each time the computer boots. To see what programs are running in the background and how much memory and CPU they are using, open Task Manager.
The fg command switches a job running in the background into the foreground. The bg command restarts a suspended job, and runs it in the background. Press the down arrow, and then Shift-down arrow to select all the programs listed in the window. This free program puts an icon next to each process in the task manager. Google Chrome takes advantage of these properties and puts web apps and plug-ins in separate processes from the browser itself.
Basically, each tab has one process unless the tabs are from the same domain. If you don't know what a process is then right-click it and select Properties to get more information, such as the folder where it's stored, which will usually offer additional clues. Windows Media Player is known to crash from time to time you may have noticed this.
Occasionally it'll crash without having any visible window, though, so you won't see there's a problem. Then, when you come to restart the program, nothing will happen because it's blocked by the crashed copy in RAM. If you find one, and there's no window, then it's probably crashed. Right-click it in Task Manager, select End Process, and once it's shut down you should be able to start Media Player as normal. Much the same problem can happen with other applications, so if something won't start, or is just misbehaving, then it's always a good idea to look for previous instances of the program.
It's often interesting to see which programs are using all your RAM. You'll now see two estimates for your processes use of RAM. The first, "Memory - Working Set" shows you how much physical memory is currently being taken up by each process. The second, "Memory - Private Working Set" shows you how much physical memory this process alone is using that is, it can't shared with anyone else. It will almost certainly consume additional RAM, though, so this figure tends to underestimate memory use.

However, they can also be startup programs and system monitors. As such, there are a few ways in which you can resolve the issue caused by having too many background processes running at the same time. However, it is important to understand how can you differentiate between a Windows process and an ordinary process.
You will be able to find the Windows processes section at the end of the list, so make sure not to modify the state of any tasks from that part. After you open Task Manager, you can sort the processes in the descending order of their memory or CPU usage just by clicking on the corresponding column on top.
Moreover, as you can see in the screenshot above, usage is color-coded and you can tell that the process on top is consuming a lot of memory. Having fewer applications running by default when your Windows OS starts enables faster booting times, and also improves the overall performance of your system.
You can always open any applications that you need during your usage of Windows 10, and, if you change your mind, you can always add and remove startup apps to Windows 10 at will. Stop the third-party software processes that waste the most resources.

Many of the third-party software services listed under background services might be a part of the Windows startup. As such, the End task button will only temporarily stop those services until you restart Windows. To completely turn them off, simply follow the steps described in the first solution of this guide.
The System Configuration utility provides a quick way to disable all non-Microsoft services in Windows, which will certainly reduce the background processes listed in Task Manager.
